Automotive Technology 1 covers shop management, tool usage, and introduction to the automotive field. You will learn brake, electrical, and steering and suspension systems. Apply your knowledge through hands-on activities in the automotive lab. After requirements are met, you are allowed to bring in vehicles and perform various tasks that you have learned in class. Guest speakers from the industry provide the opportunity to connect with potential employers. You will also become SP2 Certified in safety and environmental practices.

Students continue learning with a focus on employment and relationships within the automotive field. Learn engine repair by completely removing all components and then inspect and correctly reassemble the engine. You will also learn heating and air conditioning along with manual and automatic transmissions. Participate in course instruction of the Virginia State Inspection Program. You will have the opportunity to apply for licensure after graduation. The month of February is special because that is when you are eligible to go to work in the industry. We will prepare and guide you to begin a fulfilling and rewarding automotive career.
