Electricians measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install electrical conduit, using tools, such as hacksaw, pipe threader and conduit bender. Support brackets, welded to the building structure, are often needed to support the weight of heavy conduits. Wire is pulled through the conduit. Wires are spliced by stripping insulation from the terminal ends using knife or pliers and then twisting or soldering the wires together. The electrician installs and repairs wiring and electrical fixtures by connecting wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment devices like relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
