Elevator constructors are professionals who build, install and maintain elevators in skyscrapers, apartment complexes and other buildings. Elevator mechanics assemble and install electric and hydraulic passenger and freight elevators, escalators, moving sidewalks, and dumbwaiters. This equipment is repaired and maintained by the elevator mechanic to ensure it meets all safety regulations and building codes.
